WILDLIFE 7 days + BEACH extension (TANZANIA) 10 days

01. Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport. Meet and greet with the driver and transfer via Lake Manyara, with short game drive inside the national park). Driving times: Kilimanjaro Airport – Mto wa Mbu 3- 3,5 hours, Lake Manyara – Karatu: 1 hour. Lake Manyara Nationalpark; With the Lake on its east and the Manyara Escarpment to its west the Lake Manyara National Park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats. Acacia woodlands, water forests, baobab strewn cliffs, algae-streaked hot springs, swamps and the lake itself. And thanks to this the small Park is able to support a large number of animal species and incredible bird life. Manyara has the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world and the lions here are also renowned for their tree climbing.

02. After breakfast leave Karatu and go to Lake Eyasi. Spend the day exploring the culture of Hadzabe and Datoga tribe. In the afternoon return to Karatu. Lake Eyasi basin is remote; a dry area of desolate beauty, which offers a great natural experience. In the early morning you proceed driving with a local guide into the surrounding hills ridges in search of a Hadzabe encampment; arriving at their last known site of camp you proceed after them on foot. Upon meeting them you are introduced to the camp
members. Visit their tiny huts, follow the women on a gathering foray and see how roots are dug, mice are caught and berries and Baobab fruit are gathered and prepared, or follow the men on a hunt, led in the wildlife rich woodland between towering Baobabs and acacias. The men are armed with long bows with poison tipped arrows, which you can see produced in the village and honey axes. If successful on the hunt, or finding a beehive, you will be offered to share their meal, a small antelope, a Francolin or Guinea fowl as luck dictates that day. Return to your Camp for lunch. In the afternoon Set out and visit a Datoga community and learn about their traditional pastoral way of life. The women still wear leather dresses, traditional jewelry and distinctive facial scarification, and the men armed with spears tend to their vast herds. Visit the traditional homesteads and experience their way of life and time permitting pass by the traditional Datoga black smith, that still resides in the area. In the late afternoon return to your camp.

03. After breakfast leave to Serengeti National Park. On the way, you can visit Olduvai Gorge – the cradle of manking and a Maasai Village. Entry fees for Olduvai Museum and Maasai Village please pay cash there, they are not included in the price. Game en route to the accommodation. The Serengeti together with Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Park form Africa’s most famous wildlife park. The image of acacia trees on an endless grass plain epitomises Africa for many, and then add a Masai warrior and some cattle to the picture and the conversation need go no further. The annual wildebeest migration through the Serengeti and the Masai Mara is the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. But that is not where the game viewing ends; large prides of lions, elephants and giraffes in grasslands, gazelles and eland to mention but a few. Aside from traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Serengeti plains has become almost essential.

04. Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park. Option to do Balloon Safari in the morning

05. Do a last morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Then leave Serengeti to your next destination. Game en route.
06. Today you will do an unforgettable Ngorongoro Crater Tour. At the begining you will descend into the crater – 600m from the rim to the floor. When you reach the bottom, start your game drive and discover this breathtaking landscape. Wildebeests, zebras and lions will cross your way. Enjoy your picnic lunch next to the hippo pool. After the game drive ascend the steep crater wall with the safari car and proceed to your accommodation.

The Ngorongoro Crater is game viewing gone crazy and it is not surprising that with is one of Tanzania’s major tourist drawcards. Within the crater rim a daily wildlife drama is played out as large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze nearby lions, leopards, elephants and black rhinos. Outside of the crater a similar drama continues in a more spread out manner with Masai herdsmen thrown into the mix.

07. After breakfast leave the accommodation and proceed to Arusha Airport (Karatu – Arusha Airport: 2 – 2,5 hours). Flight to Zanzibar or back home.

07-08-09. On arrival in Zanzibar get your luggage, meet and greet with the driver and transfer to the accommodation. Days of leisure on the beach. Zanzibar Island is characterised by exquisite white sand beaches fringed by palm trees and lapped by turquoise waters lined with coral reefs brimming with an abundance of exotic marine life. This underwater paradise is a mecca for watersport enthusiasts who flock here for the excellent scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, kayaking, kitesurfing, and sailing on traditional dhows. The island’s old city, Stone Town, features a maze of narrow alleyways lined with boutiques, bars, restaurants, lively bazaars, mosques and ornate Arab houses.
