1: Addis Ababa
We suggest start on SUN. Beginning of the tour in Addis Ababa. Afternoon (1400 hrs from the hotel) start the tour: visit Entoto mountains with views over the capital, the National museum, St George church.. ON (overnight) hotel.
2: Guraghe village
Drive to Guraghe people region, admiring wonderful views and visit their village. Walk also to one Guraghe village, and admire their culture, way of life and be welcomed in one nice village. ON camping
3: Arbaminch
Walk to their vehicle. Then drive Arbaminch, admiring very green views and make some stops for the Wolayta people. Reach late afternoon to Arbaminch, to relax with spectacular sunset at the Swaynes hotel, with very spectacular views over Chamo & Abaya lakes. ON Swaynes hotel. www.swayneshotel.com
4: Netch Sar National Park – Chamo Lake
Morning drive to Chencha, for the Dorze people, with their unique culture, houses, and traditions. Afternoon boat on Chamo lake for crocodiles (biggest in Africa- 6 mts long), hippos and more. ON Swaynes hotel.
5: Jinka
Drive to Jinka, admiring the Konso, Derase, Tsemay, Ari and Benna people. Being Thursday visit the very colorful KeyAfer village market of the Tsemay and Erbore people. ON Jinka in htl or camp (depend on availability)
6: Mago National Park (mursi people)
Enter into the Mago National park, admiring different mammals and birds on the way; and proceed to visit the Mursi people and villages. Here for beauty women use to put round plates into their lips. Lunch box; afternoon back Jinka. Visit the Jinka museum and walk to visit the town. ON in htl or camp
7: Turmi
Drive to Turmi, admiring on the way the very colorful Hamer, Karo and Dassanech people market at Dimeka village. Proceed then to visit the Hamer people. 8: Bume people – Turmi
Drive to visit the Karo people, for their very interesting decoration and scarification all over their body; and very nice views over Omo river from Kortcho village. Back afternoon to the very interesting Hamer people and visit their villages. With luck we’ll try also to participate to their marriage ceremonies, with the bull jumping & more. ON Turmi
9: Omorate (Dassanech people) – Turmi
Morning excursion to Dassanech people villages at Omorate, at bank of Omo river. Then back Turmi for Monday very colorful Hamer, Karo and Dassanech people market at Turmi village. Visit Hamer people. ON Turmi.
10: Konso
Proceed to Konso, admiring on the way the Erbore and Konso people. Make a stop to visit Konso people, which are famous for the terracing agriculture, way of life in the villages, traditions and more. ON htl in Konso
11: ElSod Crater – Yabelo
Enter into the Borena people region and visit the singing wells at Dublock, the ElSod crater (where from a marshy lake Borena men extract salt) and Borena villages. ON hotel in Yabelo
12: Yabelo – Langano
Visit very nice views and Guji people. Proceed to Awasa Rift Valley lake for lunch and relax. Then proceed to the Rift Valley lake of Langano, at the Wenney eco-lodge, secluded in a natural paradise at shore of lake Langano and Munessa forest. 13: Langano
Relax at Langano. Possibility of trekking, bird-watching,
horse-riding, boat excursion, cycling, and more. Afternoon drive to visit Shala & Abyata lakes National park, for very nice views, hot springs, birds, pelicans and more. ON Wenney ecolodge
14: Langano – Addis Ababa
Drive back to Addis. Afternoon visit the Mercato, biggest open air market in Africa. Evening traditional dinner with folkloristic dances. Then departure [we suggest extension to another tour in Ethiopia, or to the parks in Tanzania or the fantastic beaches in Zanzibar or other (see our programs)]
